The Bloomington Historical Society business meeting is open to supporting members and the general public. The featured presentation is:Bloomington and the Great War: Stories of World War I
Bloomington residents participated in nearly every aspect of service during World War I. They were in the Army, Navy and National Guard. They served as Red Cross relief workers and Army Nurses. They flew a fighter plane in the French Foreign Legion Air Corps and drove a tank in the Army of Occupation. Young men from Bloomington farms boarded troop ships bound for England, France and even Siberia - a part of the war nearly forgotten. Historical Society members will share some of the stories of those who served both at home and abroad. Uniforms and artifacts from our WWI military collection will be on display.
