The National African American Read-In was established in 1990 by the Black Caucus of the National Council of Teachers of English to make literacy a significant part of Black History Month. This event will be hosted by Marsha Dean Phelts, author of An American Beach for African Americans. The public has been invited to participate by bringing a 2-3 minute reading from any material written by an African American.
