About this Event
Westminster’s Poetry Series invites distinguished authors to campus every semester for readings, class visits, and collaborative exchanges. Recent guests have included Carolyn Forché, Camille Dungy, Tope Folarin, among others.
Chasten Glezman Buttigieg is a teacher, LGBTQ+ advocate, bestselling author, and husband of Pete Buttigieg, the US secretary of transportation. In his memoir, I Have Something to Tell You, Buttigieg recounts his journey to finding acceptance as a gay man in a small Midwestern town. According to The Washington Post, the book “reveals an emotional honesty about his life story, which includes sexual assault, homelessness, estrangement . . . powerful and inspiring.” At Westminster, Buttigieg’s talk will revolve around his experiences of overcoming struggles and finding hope.
