Boris Eifman’s ballet Anna Karenina distills Tolstoy’s novel to its central love triangle, expressing Anna’s psychological turmoil through dance. Her all-consuming passion drives her to reject societal norms and unravel emotionally. The ballet explores the struggle between duty and desire, portraying Anna as torn between her refined outward identity and her inner passion. Performed by a troupe of over 60 dancers, the powerful choreography makes the production a modern reflection on love, sacrifice, hypocrisy, and the cost of forbidden passion.
