About this Event

Chughureti, situated in the heart of Tbilisi, Georgia, witnessed significant changes during the 19th century. As the city expanded due to increased trade along the Silk Road, Chughureti emerged as a bustling residential and commercial area. Its strategic location on the left bank of the Kura River and proximity to Agmashenebeli Avenue enhanced its importance. The neighborhood's architecture showcased a blend of Georgian, Russian, Persian, and European styles, reflecting the diverse cultural makeup of its residents, including Poles, Germans, Jews, and others, who contributed to its cosmopolitan atmosphere.
During the latter part of the 19th century, Tbilisi experienced industrialization and modernization, which impacted Chughureti as well. The introduction of railways, factories, and urban infrastructure altered the socioeconomic landscape of the neighborhood. Despite these changes, Chughureti maintained its distinct character. Today, it stands as a testament to Tbilisi's rich heritage, attracting both residents and visitors with its architectural landmarks and cultural attractions.
