Anja Huwe ist die legendäre Sängerin der Post-Punk-Pioniere "Xmal Deutschland".
Nach dem Erfolg der Band mit vier Alben auf Kultlabels wie 4 AD Records verfolgte Huwe eine Karriere in der Bildenden Kunst, widmete sich aber weiterhin ihrer Leidenschaft für die Musik über verschiedene kreative Plattformen. Anfang 2024 feierte sie mit der erfolgreichen Veröffentlichung ihres Soloalbums CODES sowie exklusiven Wiederveröffentlichungen früher Xmal Deutschland-Tracks, beides bei Sacred Bones Records, New York, mit einem Paukenschlag ihre Rückkehr auf die internationale Musikszene.
Das Album, geschrieben und produziert zusammen mit Mona Mur - ebenfalls eine 80er Jahre Protagonistin - zeichnet sich durch Murs' unverwechselbare elektronische Klänge sowie Manuela Rickers’ einzigartigen Xmal-Gitarrenstil aus. Die internationale Presse von The Guardian bis Rolling Stone, von THE WIRE bis Galore feierte das „Comeback des Jahres“ und das Album mit begeisterten Kritiken und forderte die Rückkehr der Künstlerin auf die Bühne. Aufgrund dieser Nachfrage beschloss Anja Huwe, ihr exquisites Soloalbum „CODES“ live auf der Bühne zu präsentieren – zusammen mit einer soliden Auswahl an Xmal Deutschland-Klassikern in modernen Interpretationen – in neuer Band-Besetzung, inszeniert mit ihren unverwechselbaren Visuals .
Ihr triumphales erstes Konzert nach Jahrzehnten – als Headliner des GRAUZONE Festivals in Den Haag im Februar 2025 – schrieb bereits Popgeschichte.

Anja Huwe is the iconic singer of the forerunners of the post-punk movement - Xmal Deutschland.
After the band’s success with four albums on cult labels such as 4 AD records, Huwe pursued a career in visual arts, still following her passion in music via various creative platforms.
She came back to the international music scene with a bang in early 2024 with the successful release of her solo album CODES, along with exclusive re-releases of early Xmal Deutschland tracks, both on Sacred Bones Records, New York.
The album, written and produced together with fellow 80s artist Mona Mur, features Mur's distinctive electronic sounds as well as Manuela Rickers’ unique Xmal guitar style.
Worldwide press, from The Guardian to Rolling Stone, from THE WIRE to Galore, celebrated the “comeback of the year” and the album with rave reviews and demanded the artist’s return on stage.
Due to this demand, Anja Huwe decided to perform her exquisite solo album CODES live on stage along with a solid selection of Xmal Deutschland classics in modern interpretations
- with a new line - up, set into light by her signature visual art. Her triumphant first concert after decades - as headliner of The Hagues's GRAUZONE Festival in February 2025 - wrote already pop history.
