Anita Hill will take The Town Hall stage to present and reflect on her latest book Believing. Thirty years ago, Hill sat before the Senate Judiciary Committee during the confirmation hearings of Supreme Court Judge Clarence Thomas and gave her landmark testimony on sexual harassment she endured working for him. In Believing, Hill offers new insights into her experience and chronicles the stories of others to reveal how gender-based violence has become a tenacious "feature of our social experience" in the United States. A legal scholar, educator, and advocate, Hill employs her singular analytical skill to create a manifesto and map forward for addressing the unrelenting history of sexual harassment and gender-based violence. She will be joined by scholar Dr. Eddie Glaude Jr., author of 2020’s Begin Again: James Baldwin’s America and Its Urgent Lessons for Our Own.
Anita Hill is University Professor of Social Policy, Law, and Women’s and Gender Studies at Brandeis University. After the 1991 Senate confirmation hearings for U.S. Supreme Court nominee Clarence Thomas, Hill became a leading figure in the fight for women’s rights and against gender-based violence. She has written for The New York Times and Newsweek, and is a sought-after speaker.’.
