Anesthesia Bootcamp - October 21st - 22nd
The Anesthesia Bootcamp is ideally suited for doctor / technician teams, but is also great for individuals.

Day 1 is a full didactic day of anesthesia concepts from A to Z. The day starts with a discussion of oxygen delivery to the tissues, which is emphasized throughout all discussions. The day’s discussion continues with all common and sometimes less common drugs, plus all new and emerging drugs and important gas anesthesia concepts. Anesthesia monitoring is covered in detail to include blood pressure and ECG analysis. Methods of treating adverse events are covered. Case discussions and protocol ideas are included along the way.

Day 2 is made up of two components, a morning discussing pulse oximetry and capnography followed by an afternoon covering advanced anesthesia topics including the geriatric patient, patients with liver and kidney disease and the hemodynamic approach to the patient with cardiac disease.

Participants will receive a full set of notes and a copy of the Handbook of Veterinary Anesthesia.

Participants will be asked in advance to submit particular areas of interest for Dr. Gaynor to include in the syllabus along with cases to discuss.

CE Credits = 16

Pain Management Bootcamp - October 23rd - 24th

Topics include NSAIDs in greater detail than you can imagine, with an emphasis on mechanisms of action to explain adverse events and individual drug’s client communication. Non- drug approaches to inflammation, including therapeutic laser, target pulsed electromagnetic therapy and nutraceuticals are described in order to provide participants with a data-based rationale for choosing appropriate interventions. Nutraceuticals related to joint protection are also described. Stem cell therapy, the gold standard for osteoarthritis, is described in great detail along with a discussion of the different laboratory systems, which are available to veterinarians. Other injection options are also presented. There is an up to date discussion of medical cannabis. Newer diagnostic techniques including gait analysis and ultrasound will also be presented Case discussions will be plentiful. The capstone session details the Canine Osteoarthritis Staging System as a framework for creating a logical approach to osteoarthritis pain.

Participants will receive a full set of notes and a copy of Dr. Gaynor’s latest edition of the Handbook of Veterinary Pain Management.

Participants will be asked in advance to submit particular areas of interest for Dr. Gaynor to include in the syllabus along with cases to discuss.
