Born in November 1973 from a musical family his father Rob Strong is one of the most respectedrock singers of his generation in Ireland and still remains active to this day.
Andrew got involved in music at the tender age of 11 performing with friends from high school
bands.
1990 Andrew got a call from musical coordinator John Hughes asking him to audition for director
Alan Parker. He liked what he heard and asked Andrew to come back the following day to
perform more songs with the session band. After performing numerous songs days later Andrew
received a call from Casting Director John Hubbard congratulating him on getting the role of
Deco Cuff as the lead singer of The Commitments.
1991 The Commitment was released to critical acclaim with the soundtrack selling over 12 million
copies.
1992 Andrew was nominated for a BAFTA award for best supporting role also received
a Grammy nomination for his contribution in The Commitments
and won a BRIT Awards for the Best Soundtrack.
From 1992 to the present day he has toured USA,Europe ,Australia and preformed with
The Rolling Stones ,David Gilmour, Bryan Adams, Deep Purple, Elton John ,Lenny Kravitz ,Meat
Loaf ,Ray Charles ,Prince, The Original Blues Brothers band and ZZ Top .
In 2011 he reunited with all the cast members of the The Commitments to celebrate the 21st
Anniversary of the film in a series of sold out shows across Ireland and the UK.
Andrew is now in the music industry for over 30 years releasing numerous hit albums and
collaborating with different artists and directors throughout his career .
His powerful voice and energetic performances continue to enthrall audiences all over the world
to this very day.
