Artist: Attila Csikos
Venue: The Burlingame Space
Balkan. Bebop. Bela Bartok.
In a vibrant celebration of cultural fusion, four musicians from distinct musical backgrounds come together to create an unforgettable evening of jazz. Bill and Adam, hailing from the rich tradition of American music, bring the improvisational spirit and rhythms that characterize jazz in its homeland. Meanwhile, Zsofia and Attila draw upon their Eastern European musical heritage, infusing their performances with the unique flavors and intricate melodies that are hallmarks of their upbringing.
As the night unfolds, attendees will be treated to a captivating mix of original compositions crafted by the musicians themselves, alongside innovative jazz adaptations of the renowned works of Béla Bartók—who was celebrated for his ability to blend folk influences with classical music—and jazz hits spiced with odd-meter.
Each musician on stage not only showcases their individual talents but also embodies the essence of cultural diversity, weaving a rich tapestry of sound that reflects Portland's dynamic and colorful musical scene. This special evening promises to be a feast for the senses, inviting the audience to experience the beauty and power of music as a universal language, bridging gaps, and celebrating differences.
