This free, in-person Taste of Wisconsin event hosted on August 14, 2024 at 7:45 PM is a part of UW-Madison's 175th anniversary celebrations, hosted by the Wisconsin Foundation & Alumni Association. No registration is necessary to attend.
Learn about Wisconsin’s maple syrup industry, the social and environmental benefits the industry provides, and opportunities to grow maple syrup production in the state
Through a three-year USDA grant, UW–Madison Extension is helping to support and expand maple sugaring outreach and education efforts in the state. The project is geared toward private woodland owners, farmers, tribal communities, and other groups that have been overlooked by previous outreach efforts but are well positioned to take advantage of the economic, culinary and cultural benefits of sugaring.
Presenter Jeremy Solin, Area 7 Extension Director and former Extension Maple Syrup Project Manager, is a natural resources professional, small business owner, and fifth-generation syrup producer who understands the potential value of the industry to the state. He holds a PhD in sustainability education from Prescott College, a master's degree in environmental education from the University of Minnesota, Duluth, and a bachelor’s in water resources from UW-Stevens Point.
