Two hour guided walking tour with Tour Guide Emma Casey uncovering the stories of the Belfast Suffragettes and their part in the campaign.You’ll hear about a female doctor who was a close personal friend to Emmeline Pankhurst and who attended some of the women at their trials here in Belfast and also at the Crumlin Road Gaol during their incarceration. You’ll hear about a woman sent over from London to Belfast to lead the campaign who went on a hunger strike nine times.
You’ll see where many of the so-called militant speeches were made by the leaders of the suffragettes including Mrs. Pankhurst. You’ll also see where the women of Belfast had a parade every Friday to sell their newspaper “The Suffragette”.
