Dayton Willison’s “The Wonderful World of Dyslexia” is a whimsical, offbeat adult comedy about an actor confronting dyslexia in a Disney-esque world where it is inescapable. As Dayton struggles to complete his MFA thesis, his mind is torn between self-doubt and self-confidence, dealing with a learning disability he’s had since third grade. After a pivotal moment negotiating with both his inner sabotager and encourager, Dayton embarks on an adventure into the ‘Wonderful World of Dyslexia,’ a magical theme park reminiscent of a familiar one, where he faces his fears, discovers his inner strength, and begins to see his disability as a superpower. Through a bumpy journey of childhood, adulthood, grad school, and self-acceptance, Dayton’s real-life story unfolds. This isn’t a show about disability—it’s about celebrating a different ability.The show will be in the Mainstage Theater.
