and so bazip zeehok it is. that is, as it were: vocals, guitar, percussion. a three-piece formed in the second half of the year twothousandtwentytwo, simply because. instant compositions, with corresponding dutch poetic lyricism. live maybe some in english too. and what else would one might like to know about that? well, this, perhaps?

“no, then bazip zeehok, named after the main character from a 1969 novel by legendary dutch writer c. buddingh’. three old hands, each of whom i have seen countless times before – often as improvisers: percussionist gert jan prins, guitarist lukas simonis and wordsmith gw sok. ‘three times better,’ to quote a classic advertisement for mascotte rolling papers.
cross-fried songs, with prins not infrequently working his drums with plumes and simonis playing cracking box guitar. over that, sok does what he rarely, if ever, did in the past: sing. at least, that’s what it seems like. in doing so, he consistently keeps his own rhythm, which leads to pleasantly curious effects.”
