THE LIVES OF OTHERS FILM SCREENING AND DISCUSSIONPresented by the Edwards College as part of Humanities Week, the Academy Award-winning 2006 German drama The Lives of Others is set in 1984 East Berlin, where an agent of the secret police conducting surveillance on a writer and his lover becomes increasingly absorbed by their lives. Following the screening, Joseph Fitsanakis, Ph.D., professor in the Department of Intelligence and Security Studies; Farrah Hersh, Ph.D., assistant professor in the Department of Interdisciplinary Studies, and Sven Kube, Ph.D., assistant professor in the Department of History, present a discussion on the film’s context.
