Hosted by the Gilliam Center for Entrepreneurship
Join the Gilliam Center for Entrepreneurship for a special public screening of The American Constitution, an acclaimed documentary by filmmaker David Garrigus that explores the origins, evolution, and contemporary relevance of the United States Constitution. This dynamic film blends historical storytelling with expert analysis, offering an accessible and engaging look at how the Constitution shapes civic life, public debate, and the rights and responsibilities of people today.
Through interviews with scholars, legal experts, and leaders from a variety of fields, The American Constitution clearly explains what the framers intended, how the Constitution has been interpreted over time, and how it affects communities, institutions, and democratic processes today. The film encourages viewers to see constitutional principles not as historical relics, but as active ideas that continue to shape society, government, and everyday life.
Following the screening, filmmaker David Garrigus will join attendees for a live Q&A session, offering insight into the research, production, and purpose behind the film, as well as ongoing conversations about civic engagement and constitutional understanding.
