Celebrate Pride with this special afternoon tea and curator’s talk at the MSV! Enjoy savory delights and desserts accompanied by an illustrated presentation from MSV Curator of Collections Nick Powers detailing how the lives of MSV benefactor Julian Wood Glass Jr. and his partner R. Lee Taylor shaped the Museum we enjoy today.Along with touching on the history of the site, Nick will explore how Julian and Lee’s relationship influenced their renovations of the Glen Burnie House and the creation of the gardens surrounding it. Learn how Julian’s identity informed the collection he built and understand how the realities, limitations, and opportunities for gay men during Julian and Lee’s era impacted their lives at Glen Burnie.
In addition to telling the story of the house and gardens, Powers will discuss objects from the Glen Burnie Queer Studies Collection—established in 2019—and highlight current and future object rotations planned for the "123 – I Love You" exhibition.
