About this Event
Congregation Bene Shalom presents a benefit performance and silent auction on Sunday, November 10 at 3:00 p.m. Doors open at 2:00 p.m.
Popular Chicago entertainers Rabbi Charlene Brooks, Jan Slavin and Pam Peterson (“The Boomer Babes”), and Carla Gordon come together as the “Yenta-tainers” in a three-set afternoon of songs and laughter. Ticket prices begin at $45 for general admission, $100 for sponsors, and $500 for donors. Many silent auction items will include tickets to a Chicago Bulls Game and gift certificate to Carnivale Restaurant. Refreshments will be available for purchase.
A Skokie temple founded 50 years ago to serve both the hearing and deaf Jewish community, Congregation Bene Shalom continues to provide an ASL interpreter at each Friday night Shabbat service and High Holidays. CBS welcomed its cantorial soloist as rabbi upon her ordination in 2022. Rabbi Charlene sang in both the secular and religious worlds for over 30 years. In addition to Shabbat services, the temple offers a monthly Kabbalah meditation service and healing prayer group.
