Oklahoma City Ballet's "Shorts" features three iconic ballets in one performance!
? "CARMINA BURANA"
Choreography by Ryan Jolicoeur-Nye
Music by Carl Orff
In collaboration with Canterbury Voices, more than 50 singers will join Oklahoma City Ballet dancers for this iconic work based on a collection of 13th century songs and poems.
⚓️ "FANCY FREE"
Choreography by Jerome Robbins
Music by Leonard Bernstein
"Fancy Free" is the precursor to Broadway’s "On the Town," presenting three sailors and their escapades while in Manhattan. The short ballet takes place in a wartime New York City bar, where the three sailors compete for the attention of two beautiful women. This collaboration between famed choreographer Jerome Robbins and composer Leonard Bernstein led them to collaborate on "West Side Story" following the success of "On the Town."

? "CACTI"
Choreography by Alexander Ekman
Music by Franz Joseph Haydn, Ludwig van Beethoven, and Franz Schubert
In "Cacti," 16 dancers stand, seemingly trapped, on oversized Scrabble tiles. While a string quartet plays and spoken recordings give tongue-in-cheek narration of the action, the dancers run, fall, writhe, and try to escape their invisible prisons. A gleeful and knowing parody of the art form’s greater excesses, "Cacti" is an affectionate, pointed, and often hilarious deconstruction of the affectations of dance.
