High Holidays Immigration Justice Gathering event on the theme of "SECURING SAFTEY." For the last four years, many of us in the valley have gathered together to celebrate the Jewish ritual of Tashlich and used the time to reflect on issues affecting immigrants, both in our community and at the border.
The Project 2025 playbook, with its threats of mass deportation of people who pay taxes and contribute to our economy, will make life even less safe for our friends and neighbors, separating families who have been here for years. And asylum seekers fleeing life or death situations, or climate refugees on the brink of starvation who need to leave their homes will have an even harder time seeking safety within our borders.
In this traditional Jewish New Year's ritual, we will reflect on the meaning of safety, with an emphasis on what we (individually, and as a society) need to let go of, and what we need to create to change the immigration narrative and envision a world in which people are welcomed and recognized for their contributions.
Everyone is warmly welcome. (Jews, allies, immigrants, activists, etc.!)
Bring snacks to share and small rocks to cast into the water.
PLEASE SHARE THIS WIDELY WITH YOUR NETWORKS!
