About this Event

The Orange Park Chorale, a non-profit ensemble of choral voices, invites the community to reflect on the personal resonance of treasured sacred music and compelling show tunes as the choir offers its free spring vocal concert, ‘Reflections’, in three inspiring performances.

On Saturday, March 29th at 4:00pm, the Orange Park Chorale will perform at Penney Memorial Church, 4465 Poling Blvd., Penney Farms. The second concert is scheduled for Sunday, March 30th at 4:00pm at Orange Park Presbyterian Church, 1905 Park Avenue, Orange Park. The third concert will be held on Sunday, April 6th at 4:00pm at Hendricks Avenue Baptist Church, 4001 Hendricks Ave., Jacksonville.

Concert attendance is free. Donations will be accepted.

Under the direction of Artistic Director David Holladay, ‘Reflections’ is a deeply personal and moving collection of cherished choral works, specifically requested by members of The Orange Park Chorale by name or composer. This soul-stirring program weaves together timeless sacred pieces and lyrically beautiful show tunes, offering listeners a journey through reverence, introspection, and joy.

The sacred selections include The Lord’s Prayer, Albert Hay Malotte’s revered 1935 setting of the prayer; The Lord is My Shepherd, Randall Thompson’s poignant rendering of Psalm 23; Zion’s Walls, an exuberant call to faith and praise adapted by Aaron Copland; the hauntingly beautiful Wayfaring Stranger, a 19th-century American folk and gospel song; and the spirited Little David, Play on Your Harp, an uplifting celebration of divine strength and help to the shepherd boy David, arranged by Mark Hayes.

The Chorale’s secular offerings add a contemporary and cinematic touch, inviting audiences into a reflective consideration of life’s meaning and dreams. What Was I Made For from the movie 'Barbie,' written by Billie Eilish and Finneas O’Connell and arranged by Jennifer Lucy Cook, poses the perennial question of our purpose in life. Look for the Light, a tender lullaby from the TV series 'Only Murders in the Building,' showcases the lyrical artistry of Sara Bareilles, Benj Pasek, and Justin Paul. Rounding out the concert program are two inspiring selections written by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul from the movie 'The Greatest Showman'—A Million Dreams, a soaring tribute to the boundless power of wonder and the imagination, and This is Me, a stirring anthem of self-acceptance and resilience.

The Orange Park Chorale, founded in 1992, is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. The group’s mission is, “To provide opportunities for community participation in the area of choral music. The Chorale’s goal is to provide excellence in the choral arts and to enhance the cultural life of communities in Northeast Florida.” Throughout its history, the members of The Orange Park Chorale have been committed to maintaining the group’s core values of: Musical Excellence, Fellowship, Mutual Respect, Character, and Dedication.
