About this Event

Spend the evening with Larry Grant sʔəyəɬəq 洪禮興, xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) Elder as he shares his life story in his new book "Reconciling: A Lifelong Struggle to Belong"

Larry Grant, born in 1936 to a Musqueam mother and Chinese immigrant father, lost his Musqueam status due to a clause in the Indian Act. Reconciling: A Lifelong Struggle to Belong recounts his life, exploring reconciliation and Indigenous revival, framed by significant Vancouver sites and themes including Chinese immigration and residential schools.

Join us for a conversation between Larry Grant and co-author Scott Steedman, moderated by filmmaker Sarah Ling, and view the history of Vancouver through a new lens. A book signing with Larry and Scott will conclude the evening.

This event is free to attend but registration is required. Donations are welcome upon entry. All donations and net proceeds from book sales will go towards Musqueam language projects including a multilingual children's book on Larry Grant's childhood.

We recommend pre-purchasing your copy as part of your event registration. Non-reserved copies for purchase at the event will be limited.

Cost per book $26.95 + GST
