"Reclaiming the Sky" Gives Aviation Students an Opportunity to Learn Resiliency Lessons from the Stories of 9/11's Aviation Heroes
About this Event

Learn Resiliency Lessons from 9/11’s Aviation Heroes

Today’s aviation students will be tomorrow’s leaders.

The Human Resiliency Institute at Fordham University, Airports Council Int’l – NA and University Aviation Association are partnering to introduce the “Reclaiming the Sky Resiliency Project" to help aviation students develop their resiliency strengths and prepare them to meet challenges they'll face in the future.

The program gives students, beginning with a leadership group at University of Memphis, an opportunity to develop resiliency strengths from the example of 9/11’s aviation heroes.

Participating students will have a chance to read the stories of airport and airline employees who came into work in New York, Boston and Washington, DC on the morning of 9/11 expecting a normal day, only to find that “just doing my job” was to become the creed of heroes. The heroes' stories are chronicled in a book, “Reclaiming the Sky,” by Tom Murphy, an aviation consultant who saw first-hand how his aviation colleagues were responding with courage, selfless and resiliency to 9/11 to rebuild their lives and reclaim hope.

Student participants will get a free ebook copy of "Reclaiming the Sky" and have a chance to participate in a workshop at Memphis Int'l Airport in April. At the session, senior staff from the airport will serve as "mentors" to explore the lessons with the students and discuss how they can apply what they learn to develop resiliency "tools" to meet challenges they'll face as they build their careers in the industry.

Register today, and we'll be in touch with full details and instructions on how to get your free ebook, as well as details and a date for the workshop at the airport.
