"Once Upon a Feeling" is a collection of works from throughout Susan’s life.Newcastle based Visual Artist Susan Cotton obtained her BAVA from the University of Newcastle and the NCAE in 1985.
Combining Susan’s personal experience and her extensive travelling history, this has enhanced her understanding of emotional encounters demonstrated in her art.
Susan’s painting process reflects the way she feels and how she experiences the environment around her past and present.
Starting with random strokes, Susan opens up the possibility for images to appear and let them guide her to what comes next.
Susan’s influences are wide and varied, though surrealism became a prominent influence from early adult life in New Guinea.
For the past 22 years, Susan has lived a reclusive life, thus being Susan’s first gallery showing and a celebration of her transitioning back into society, out of the shadows and into the light.
