Learn about indigenous environmental issues with author Dr. Ryan Emanuel, who is a Lumbee hydrologist and associate professor in the Nicholas School of the Environment at Duke University. His book, "On the Swamp: Fighting for Indigenous Environmental Justice", reveals the disproportionate environmental burdens inflicted on indigenous and other marginalized communities.Dr. Emanuel’s visit is sponsored by the Green Reads Book Club, a group of readers who enjoy nature and environmental literature. Green Reads meets monthly at the Kathleen Clay Branch and new members are always welcome.
