Over four weeks, this first-ever "Off-Season Seed Reading" series will be a fresh and easy take on the typical book club.
About this Event

Co-hosted by 21 Acres and the Woodinville Farmers Market, this four-session "Off-Season Seed Reading" series will be a fresh and easy take on the typical book club.

Our inaugural title is Barbara Kingsolver's, Animal, Vegetable, Miracle: A Year of Food Life, a memoir detailing her family's journey away from the industrial-food pipeline to a rural life in which they vow to buy only food raised in their own neighborhood, grow it themselves, or learn to live without it.

We’ll meet on Saturdays, Jan. 18 and 25, and Feb. 1 and 8, from 10 am to noon, in the 21 Acres Sustainability Library next to the Farm Market. You're welcome to join us for any and all of these gatherings. Over four weeks, we'll start reading aloud and discussing the book together as a group, and you can finish in your own time. No need to buy the book! Join us during the slower season for a lively conversation around local food, farming and other related topics.

From Animal, Vegetable, Miracle: “This is the story of a year in which we made every attempt to feed ourselves animals and vegetables whose provenance we really knew . . . and of how our family was changed by our first year of deliberately eating food produced from the same place where we worked, went to school, loved our neighbors, drank the water, and breathed the air.”

Cancellation policy:
