Saturday 30th August – 6pm - free entrance, wine offered.French dance company DANS6T, administrated by Sofiane Bouteldja, is coming to Zimbabwe (part of a larger Southern Southern-African tour) to present its new creation. For this "danced conference", the three artists of "No Name Dance Crew" from Bulawayo will be performing with the French choreographer.
THE DANCED CONFERENCE.
The audience will be invited to dance some of the dances with the company, in particular at the end of the conference with a movement that can be used on all dances, such as the pas de bourré, to remind us that dances have been linked together since the history of humanity. After the story and presentation of the different dances, the company will show a step that Bouziane Bouteldja created, ‘le jungle’ (the pas de bourré is not accessible to amateurs), and will be performed in different styles of dance and music. The company will close with a ‘kuduro’ to get the audience dancing together. The lecture-dance will be approached in an ‘informal’ and playful way to bring it alive and carry the audience along.
BOUZIANE BOUTELDJA, choreographer and artistic director of Cie Dans6T, discovered break dance during a workshop with Tayeb Benamara. In 2001, he founded Dans6T, a dance centre in Tarbes, before setting up his own company in 2007, where he develops a body of work as a writer, weaving together art and society. His repertoire includes a dozen shows that examine the pulse of contemporary society: diversity, discrimination, religion, the ego, death, junk food, migration... Themes that resonate with the choreographer's own life journey, in which he places the practice of dance at the heart of his reflections as a vehicle for emancipation.
