For the inaugural O Cara Mia Parlor Music Concert, the Seward House Museum is pleased to welcome soprano Kara Goodrich. Accompanied by Richard Raub on the 1872 Steinway piano, Kara will transport listeners on an operatic musical journey in the magnificent setting of the Museum's Drawing Room.
Kara Goodrich, a Philadelphia-born soprano, is a graduate of the Academy of Vocal Arts, with degrees from the Eastman School of Music and the University of Michigan. She has performed a variety of operatic roles, including Mimi in La Bohème, Pamima in The Magic Flute, and Micaela in Carmen. Kara's accolades include first prize in the Giargiari Competition (2020), the Barry Alexander Vocal Competition (2019), and the Kennett Symphony Orchestra Competition (2018). In 2019 she made her Carnegie Hall debut with a solo recital.
Richard Raub's pianistic skills and musical intuition has led to collaborations with some of the world's greatest artists, including Birgit Nilsson, Sherrill Milnes, Renata Scotto, and Luciano Pavarotti. He has been the official pianist for the Metropolitan Opera Philadelphia District Auditions for 35 years and Regional Auditions at The Kennedy Center for 10. For 30 years he has played for The Voice Foundation, the world's oldest and leading organization dedicated to voice research, medicine, science, and education. Mr. Raub receivd a V.E.R.A Award in recognition of his contributions to the field of vocal communication in 2010.
