Join us on an easy hike to help capture the beauty of the crucial wildlife corridor between Irvine Regional Park and Peters Canyon Regional Park that is threatened by The Irvine Company's devastating 1180-home Orange Heights proposed development. Heather will bring an art warmup activity. Participants are encouraged to bring their own portable art supplies as well as something to sit on. Be sure to bring snacks and water! We will stop in at least one scenic spot to observe plants and wildlife. You are not required to stay for the entire event time! We will be in native perennial grassland (Nassella Calochortus etc.) sage scrub and oak woodland supporting sensitive wildlife species including mountain lions bobcats mule deer long-tailed weasels coastal California gnatcatchers white-tailed kites greater roadrunners western meadowlarks native bees butterflies bats and more! 2-3 miles round-trip. Few hundred feet of elevation gain. Mostly full sun exposure with some shade. Uneven terrain. Dirt trail with some old pavement in sections. Not recommended for those with medical or mobility issues.
