Lauren loves capturing moments with her mother on her Polaroid. Tragedy strikes when her mother dies unexpectedly. As years pass, Lauren graduates high school but finds herself homeless when her foster care home discards her belongings.
Navigating the streets, Lauren meets Jimmy, a runaway, who teaches her survival skills. She joins an unconventional street family: Harris, a painter and veteran; Dora, an actress battling mental illness; and Violet, a veteran with addiction. They face threats from gangs, the community, and local authorities.
Robert, a businessman facing financial ruin, wants to reclaim the land the street family lives on. His family may need help from those they once despised.
