About this Event

On Thursday, March 6, we welcome Justin Kimball to “Meet the Artist” night at CPW. Kimball will be sharing work from a number of projects made over the last twenty years, with a particular focus on his most recent book, Who By Fire (Radius Books). He will talk about his process, books, as well as the concerns and preoccupations that drive his practice. This event will be live-streamed on CPW’s YouTube page at 6pm.

Join us every Thursday evening at CPW, when we host illuminating talks with local and visiting artists. “Meet the Artist” allows the public to get to know new work, to hear about artistic processes, and to meet friends and other local artists. The evening takes place at CPW’s gallery at 25 Dederick Street in Kingston, NY. It is free and open to the public. Coffee, tea, and snacks are served. “Meet the Artist” is made possible by a generous grant from the Arnold and Augusta Newman Foundation.

Justin Kimball’s photographs are about humanity, memory, loss, and hope. They carry a specifically American subtext and consider the historical, social, and political times through the landscapes, homes, and people who live there. He is a recipient of the Guggenheim and Aaron Siskind Fellowships, among others. His work is held in over thirty public collections, including the Museum of Contemporary Photography, Art Institute of Chicago, J. Paul Getty Museum, Nelson-Atkins Museum, Museum of Fine Arts Houston, Museum of Fine Arts Boston, Library of Congress, High Museum of Art, Amon Carter Museum, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, and the National Gallery of Art. Kimball is the author of the monographs Where We Find Ourselves (Center for American Places), Pieces of String, Elegy, and Who By Fire (Radius Books). He lives in Northampton, Massachusetts, where he is the Conway Professor in New Media at Amherst College.
