“Julia VIVE” is a feature-length dramatic documentary celebrating the life, work, and enduring legacy of Puerto Rican poet and patriot Julia de Burgos (1914–1953). Blending the lyricism of fiction with the depth of documentary, the film captures her journey through Cuba and New York (1939–1953)—years that shaped both her art and her activism.
Through vivid reenactments and intimate interviews with leading scholars and artists, “Julia VIVE” brings to life her brilliance, spirit, and revolutionary voice. Enriched by rare archival footage and the heartfelt support of her family, the film is a vibrant homage to the woman whose poetry—and courage—still resonate today.
