About this Event

The Invitation

The root cause of many of our social challenges is the lack of connection and belonging.  If you are interested in cultivating a city where everyone feels welcomed, join us for a Summit to imagine and weave the fabric of our community!

Through interactive conversations and open space technologies, we will explore the struggles and successes in furthering a Louisville of Belonging.

In preparation for the gathering, we are asking that all participants read the Surgeon General’s report to provide background information. (See below)

We want to extend a special invitation to community health and mental health organizations, yoga studios, chaplains, and emerging spiritual communities.

The Need

The Surgeon General recently released a report claiming the greatest current health crises in the United States are loneliness and isolation (Our Epidemic of Loneliness and Isolation, The U.S. Surgeon General’s Advisory on the Healing Effects of Social Connection and Community, 2023). The report states,

"...institutions that gather individuals for work, study, or prayer, such as workplaces, schools, and faith organizations, can function as sources of positive connection and thereby bolster the community’s trust in those institutions and in fellow members. Investing in community connection will be important to repairing divisions and rebuilding trust in each other and our institutions, and is vital to achieving common societal goals."
