About this Event
The Oconomowoc Kiwanis Breakfast Club presents "I'll Be Home For Christmas" Christmas Parade 2024! We hope this year's parade will bring a lot of cheer to the community and spread JOY! Like last year, we are requiring each unit to include lights as we want to continue to make this parade the most spirited for our community.
The parade route is as follows: Parade starts at the corner of Pleasant St. & Walnut St. and goes south to Wisconsin Ave. turning west at the round-a-bout and continuing downtown Main Street and turning north on N Lake Rd. All units will continue to disburse back to the staging area turning East on Lisbon Rd. Any questions regarding this, feel free to reach out.
To register as a parade entry, please click the link for "Tickets." All parade sponsors are to register as "non-profit." Deadline to register as a parade unit is November 30th.
Just a couple of parade guidelines:
- All parade participants should enter from Lisbon Rd. and Oakwood Ave. Units will enter the staging area at Cherry St. and Oakwood Ave. Only parade unit vehicles may enter the staging area. Participants should be dropped off and walk to their appropriate unit number. We will not allow thru traffic on Oakwood past Cherry St. for the safety of participants and organizers.
- Please no Santa in your unit. We already have Santa who will make an appearance at the end of the parade.
- "I'll Be Home For Christmas" is the theme so let your imagination run wild! This can be done with music, decorations, costumes or however you can get creative with the theme. Have fun with it!
- Lights are required for every unit. Battery operated lights are a great option for participants.
- Music is highly encouraged to help keep the parade upbeat and cheerful!
- We ask that you maintain a consistent distance between your unit and the one in front of you. We received feedback last year that there were some large gaps between units so with your help and attention, let's tighten those gaps so there aren't any lulls.
- No throwing candy from moving vehicles to keep this a safe event for families and children. You can hand out candy by walking along the parade route. Note:The downtown area gets very crowded and unsafe with kids running into the street for candy. We received feedback from various units that their drivers had a hard time seeing kids run into the street for candy. Please keep this in mind if you are handing out candy.
- Please email [email protected] with your staging area requirements no later than Nov. 30th. Example: 30' for pickup truck with walkers
- All parade units are responsible for the safety of their participants. Kiwanis is not held responsible.
*You can cancel your parade registration at anytime. However you will only be refunded prior to 48 hours notice of the event time. We will refund via mailed check.*
