"Hate Crime" is a timely dramatic play about race relations in America told in the context of a legal thriller. Malcolm McLeod, a rising black lawyer, is assigned to represent Hunter Kleiss, an avowed white supremacist, who has been charged with murdering a black activist preacher during Kleiss' white supremacist group's protest of the renaming of Veterans' Park for Martin Luther King Jr. Park. During the representation and trial that follows, Malcolm falls in love with Kleiss' sister and meets a man who forces him to confront what it means to be a black in white America.
