"Greater Tuna" is a comedic play set in the fictional town of Tuna, Texas, the "third-smallest" town in the state. The play was written by Jaston Williams, Joe Sears, and Ed Howard. It is simultaneously an affectionate comment on small-town, Southern life and attitudes but also a poignant satire of same. The play is notable in that two men play the entire cast of over twenty eccentric characters of both genders and various ages.
This will be the final Del Mar Drama production featuring Kim Frederick. Frederick began teaching at Del Mar College in 1988; he was the second person ever hired by the Drama Program, and he helped grow the program into what it is today. Joining him onstage is Carl Yowell, who teaches acting in the Drama Program. Frederick and Yowell have performed in many fundraisers/theatre productions over the years, including “The Mystery of Irma Vep,” “The Farndale Avenue Murder Mystery,” “All the Great Books,” “The Complete History of America,” and the wildly popular “Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged).”
