Our special exhibit “Game On”, brings back many fond memories of days gone by and old-fashioned games that kept us entertained with no electronics.
For many of us, childhood memories of playing games in the schoolyard are some of the fondest memories we have. The 1950s and 1960s were a golden age for playground games, where children would spend hours outside, playing with their friends and engaging in a variety of physical activities.
They offer more than just fun, shaping our character and teaching life lessons. In the era of technology, the significance of these games is often overlooked.
Playing outside helps us stay healthy and active. It sharpens our mind, improves teamwork skills, and boosts creativity. So, let’s cherish and promote the joy of outdoor games.
Vintage card games and board games invoke memories of simpler times. Board games were very popular in the 1950s. Electronics hadn’t completely taken over yet and there are many board games that came out in the 1950s that we still play today.
Instead of plopping down in front of the TV, families would plan entire evenings around board games or card games
