About this Event
Join us to watch the 75-minute documentary Farming While Black, an award-winning film focused on the rising generation of young Black farmers, featuring Leah Penniman from Soul Fire Farm, author of βFarming While Black." Before & after the film screening, chat with your fellow farmers & food system supporters while enjoying food & drink from Brix Cider!
This event is hosted by the Real Organic Project, in partnership with FairShare CSA Coalition, UW-Extension, & Urban Triage, with support from the Midwest Vegetable Growers Network.
The filmmakers' goal is to reconnect Black farmers & land stewards to their Afro-Indigenous regenerative agricultural roots, to not only heal, but find strength & inspiration in land; & in turn change the food system to be more just, healthy & climate resilient. Donations collected from this event will be given to Soul Fire Farm in support of furthering this goal, & will also be shared with Urban Triage, as they work to further healthy Black agriculture here in Dane County, Wisconsin.
