About this Event
“Everything you wanted to know about Social Security, but didn’t know who to ask.”
When planning your retirement, for most people, every income dollar matters. But when it comes to Social Security, many guidelines, rules, provisions, and exceptions, make it difficult to figure out what you're entitled to. Everyone has the same goal; they want their benefit to be as much as possible, and they want to make sure that it lasts as long as they do.
Social Security is complicated, and there are lots of questions:
• When can I start collecting?
• When should I start collecting?
• How is my benefit calculated?
• What difference does it made if you start collecting early or wait till later?
• What happens if I start collecting and I continue working?
• What is my “full retirement age” and why does it matter?
• How are cost-of-living adjustments calculated?
• How are surviving spouses impacted?
• How are ex-spouses impacted?
• How might future legislative changes impact my benefit?
• Am I eligible for disability benefits?
• What is the best strategy to maximize my benefit?
• Will I be impacted by the windfall elimination provision or the government pension offset?
• Is Social Security taxable?
• Is Social Security going broke?
