Jeff has been a public school teacher and hall-of-fame coach for over thirty years, winning multiple state football championships. He's been leading students under extremely stressful and difficult conditions all his adult life. But none of them prepared him for the challenges that anxiety and depression had in store for his family.
Jeff has presented to hundreds of schools and community organizations across the United States, describing his experiences with his son Daniel, who suffered from severe anxiety and depression.
Part of Jeff's presentation includes showing portions or the entirety of the documentary Do It for Daniel, which focuses on understanding mental health conditions as treatable and on his small town's support through the success of their underdog football team in the wake of tragedy.
Jeff's central message is one of tremendous hope and understanding that mental illness is a MEDICAL condition and should be treated as such.
From start to end, the Do It for Daniel program lasts one hour
and forty minutes, including Jeff speaking before and after the showing of the documentary. There is also an option for Jeff to show excerpts of the documentary instead of the entirety, which
adjusts the total presentation to just under one hour.
Please mark your calendars and plan on attending this free event on October 22 at the Gerald Knoepfel Auditorium at the Waupaca Middle School. The night will begin with a Resource Fair at 5:30 p.m., followed by Jeff's presentation at 6:30 p.m.
