From West Africa to the coastal town of Charleston, SC, award-winning Chef Fatmata Binta traverses the globe to feature her Dine on a Mat Dinner culinary experience, which has exploded on the international food scene. On Wednesday, October 5, 2022, chef will bring her series to Charlotte, North Carolina at the beautiful campus courtyard of Johnson & Wales University for the first time.
Based in Ghana, the internationally acclaimed executive chef of Dine On A Mat is the founder of Fulani Kitchen Foundation and a modern-day nomadic chef who travels the globe to explore different cultures and ways of cooking. Chef Binta is of Guinean descent, born and raised in Sierra Leone to first-generation Sierra Leonean Fulanis. Chef Binta blends her Fulani heritage, formal culinary training, and her passion for informing guests about the richness of ingredients, indigenous spices, and connection that a Fulani food experience creates amongst its guests. Her advocacy for women in culinary and sustainable eating is reflected throughout her journey.
Chef Binta is partnering with the lifestyle brand, Afro in CLT, to immerse guests in an interactive 5-course picnic-style dining experience that stimulates the senses and transports them to a whole new world.
