For this edition of "Le Printemps des Poètes", a worldwide celebration of spoken words, we welcome two comedians from Switzerland, who will perform with two local artists, SoxThePoet and Franck Chirisa.
Vincent Kucholl and Vincent Veillon are the producers and hosts of the programme “52 minutes”, broadcasted on Saturday on RTS (Radio Télévision Suisse). This satirical program reviews recent news, in Switzerland and around the world, through real and fake interviews, as well as parodies of music videos, films or series. Their collaboration, first on the radio and then on television, has lasted for 15 years.
Franck Chirisa is a 24 year old standup comedian from Bulawayo with 5 years of experience in the industry. He was notably crowned the 2023 Matebeleland Awards Outstanding Comedian. He recently finished a Southern African tour of “Funny Stories That Heal”, which lasted for 4 months in major cities across the region, including Harare, Port Elizabeth, Lusaka and Gaborone. He has a comedy club called Burg Comedy Club where he mentors young and upcoming comedians. He is also a mental health advocate, a Rotarian, and is into acting, scriptwriting and MC’ing.
SoxThePoet's work touches on themes around social, economic and political life. In the past, he has been nominated for the Bulawayo Arts Awards, a national slam champion, listed under the 40 under 30 Gumiguru Influential Leaders List, and performed in Festivals in and around Zimbabwe with the most recent being the Phenomenal Festival of Lights. He is also a radio host at Skyz Metro FM for the Men's Emotional and Mental Wellness show.
