Experience the wild side of darkness during our “Black” Moon Night Hike at Cedar Run Wildlife Refuge! A “black moon” marks the rare occasion of a second new moon in a single month—a night when the sky is at its darkest and the stars shine their brightest.Join us for an approximately 1-mile guided hike through the refuge’s shadowy trails as we explore the hidden world of nocturnal wildlife. With no moonlight to guide us, we’ll rely on our senses to discover what creatures come alive in the pitch-black night. Listen for owls calling, frogs singing, and other nighttime stirrings as our Educators share fascinating insights into how animals adapt to total darkness.
This is a unique opportunity to embrace the mystery of the night, unplug, and truly connect with nature in one of its quietest, most powerful forms. Please bring a flashlight (with a red lens if possible), wear sturdy shoes, and come ready for adventure.
Dare to explore the dark—join us for a night hike unlike any other!
This program begins at 7:30pm and runs 1hr+ depending on our findings, not to exceed 90 minutes. Adults only please. $15/person. Members save 10%! 20 participants maximum. Advanced registration required.
