Today, we visit and tour the Anheuser Estate, ancestral home of Fred and Mabel Ruth Anheuser. Fred's great-grandfather, Eberhard Anheuser, was the founder of E. Anheuser Brewing Company, the brewery that later became known as Anheuser Busch, producer of the world-famous Budweiser Beer.Enjoy lunch at the famous Blue Owl Restaurant and Bakery, as featured on the Food Network. Mary's Mile High Levee Pie was chosen as one of Oprah's Favorite Things and spawned an entirely separate bakery to meet demand. Enjoy an included Terrific Trio lunch and time to stoll through the town and local shops.
After lunch, visit Mastodon State Historic Site, which contains an important archaeological and paleontological site: the Kimmswick Bone Bed. Here, scientists discovered the first solid evidence of the coexistence of humans and the American mastodon in eastern North America.
