WHAT: "Becoming a Resilient Scientist (BRS)" Video and Discussion Series
WHEN: 1st Gathering, Thursday, Oct. 3, 12:30-1:30 pm
WHERE: Haight Center (west of the Eccles Science Learning Center)
You're invited to participate in the “Becoming a Resilient Scientist (BRS)” video and discussion program. The program, developed by the National Institutes of Health Office of Intramural Trainings and Education and hosted by the College of Science, features a 5-part series of two-hour videos participants can watch online, followed by monthly, in-person discussion with fellow grad students and faculty.
Grad school can be stressful and grad students can feel lonely and isolated as they face academic challenges. The goal of the BRS series is to provide you with the resilience tools needed to study and work in high-knowledge environments. The material will help you develop well-being, assertiveness and feedback skills, with the goal of improved relationships in research groups and beyond.
Participants will view the NIH videos, one at a time, at their convenience, and then gather in-person in a collegial atmosphere with fellow grad students to discuss talking points developed for each video.
