Lori teaches cold wax and oil, encaustic painting, and concertina sketchbooks. She loves teaching these mediums and the sketchbook form because it gives me the opportunity to engage students from beginners to established artists in a way that is very freeing. These forms lend themselves to experimentation, architectural layering and multi-media expression. It is about creating a personal language. While all art is a very personal expression of the artist, these forms utilize unusual pairings, mark making, layering and constructs to create a unique language specific to each creation. Students are universally surprised and delighted by their works at the end of each class.
