We at NCAAA welcome you to join us for this exciting public conversation at Ramsay Park about Airfoil/Captain David Ramsay Memorial by Reginald Jackson and Valerie Maynard.

You will have the opportunity to hear from Reginald Jackson, one of the lead artists of Airfoil and from Haywood Fennell, a Vietnam Era veteran.

All are welcome to this free and public event!

*This public conversation is part of the National Center of Afro-American Artists' new project, FINDING OURSELVES IN PUBLIC SPACES: An UnMonument Project, and it is funded by The Mayor's Office of Arts & Culture's UnMonument Initiative, supported by a grant from The Mellon Foundation.

Dr. Reginald Jackson is founder and president of Olaleye Communications, Inc. He serves as a consultant to artists, scholars, institutions and students in visual communications who conduct research relating to demystifying Africa. With that said, for over forty years, he has conducted visual research throughout the African Diaspora documenting African retention in the Americas and the Caribbean, including Cuba, Brazil and Haiti. Jackson holds a Ph.D. in Communications and Visual Anthropology from Union Institute, an MFA and BFA from Yale University.

Haywood Fennell, Sr., born in Harlem, NY, joined the US Army for six years during the Vietnam War as an Information Specialist and photographer. He is a community organizer and educator using the principle of collaboration to get things done. Haywood is a staunch advocate for Veterans rights. He is the Founder of Tri-Ad Veterans League, a volunteer Veterans organization involved in cultural enrichment programs and literacy.
