On the eve of its 250th anniversary, come raise a glass to all the events that paved the way for the American Revolution in the Cape Fear, from the Stamp Act rebellion to the Wilmington Tea Party.“A Toast to Revolution” will recount the extraordinary steps taken by the residents of the young towns of Wilmington and Brunswick to resist British rule at great risk, and how their efforts led directly to the outbreak of war in the Thirteen Colonies.
During the event, guests will be able to enjoy snacks and a cash bar, along with exciting local history trivia and great prizes. The event will conclude with a toast to celebrate the sacrifices and strides made by those who lived by a collective creed: “Give me liberty or give me death!”

“A Toast to Revolution” is hosted by the Burgwin-Wright House, Wilmington’s oldest and largest historic site. The event will also feature representatives from other local colonial sites like Brunswick Town/Fort Anderson, Moores Creek National Battlefield and North Carolina’s America250 campaign.
