About this Event
A Cruel Injustice will be a short reading with questions and answers about the haunting and gripping analysis of the story that captured a nation when the Massachusetts child welfare system sent tiny Harmony Montgomery to Manchester New Hampshire with her violent father who murdered her and hid her remains.
Carol Erskine is a lifelong child advocate both as a lawyer and as a Massachusetts Juvenile Court judge for twenty-one years. Prior to being appointed to the bench, she was named one of Massachusetts Top Ten Lawyers by Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly. As First Justice in her county, she presided over thousands of cases involving criminal matters, runaways, sexually exploited children, mental health cases, and child abuse and neglect cases. Judge Erskine has received many awards for her child advocacy from community agencies and bar associations, as well as “Judicial Excellence” awards. She is an adjunct professor teaching Criminal Justice Ethics and Constitutional Law. Judge Erskine is a sought after speaker at community events and was a frequent speaker at statewide judge’s conferences. She is an instructor for the Massachusetts Municipal Police Institute. Judge Erskine has written and published a children’s book and several op-ed columns on children’s issues. She has appeared on local and national news programs such as Court TV and Boston 25. She and her husband are the proud parents of a blended family with their now grown adopted and stepchildren.
