The interactive musical, "Rhythm & Autism," returns to the Walters, bringing poignant comedy and a rhythmic journey through the past…backwards. With a "Wonder Years" style narrative, Andee Joyce unites music, humor, and spoken word to tell her tale of growing up autistic amid the pop culture cheese of the 1960s and 1970s.This sensory friendly solo show returns with some fresh new features – including live accompaniment by multi-instrumental wizard Ray Maras!
Tickets are $14 in advance / $19 day of show. No additional fees.
As a recipient of a City of Hillsboro Performance Series Grant, this performance directly supports Andee Joyce, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting Influence Music Hall / Tualatin Valley Artists.
Sensory Friendly Details: The first half of the show will be quieter, with "flapplause" encouraged. Earplugs and stim toys will be available to anyone who needs them, or audience members can bring their own. A sensory content program will be available, sharing the sensory elements for each scene so audience members can prepare. The show will also have full open captions and plenty of opportunities for audience participation (including "flap-alongs") for all who care to join in.
